Eligibility criteria for Chevening Scholarships are as follows: – You must be a citizen of a Commonwealth country.

  • You must have completed or be in the final year of an undergraduate degree with at least 2 years of study remaining.
  • You must not have previously studied or worked in the United Kingdom on a Tier 4 visa.

You cannot have received any other scholarship or award from the UK government (including awards from HM Government of Gibraltar). You cannot be currently sponsored by an organization to undertake research, education, work placement, or business experience in the UK.

You must not intend to reside in the UK on a long-term basis after completing your program. Applicants who satisfy these requirements can apply for either a ‘Theory-based’ program or a ‘Practitioner-based’ program.

To qualify for the former, applicants must demonstrate evidence of a high level of academic achievement that is reflected in their degree classification and grades attained during their studies.

If applying for the latter, candidates will need to provide evidence that they are committed to pursuing careers outside of academia.

How to prepare for the Scholarship

The Chevening application process is not an easy one. It requires a lot of time, patience, and persistence. The most important thing that you should do before applying for the scholarship is to identify what you want to study abroad.  Once you have decided on your subject of study, go ahead and start preparing for the exam.

There are two major tests that you need to be able to pass in order to be eligible for the scholarship: IELTS (International English Language Testing System) which is a proficiency test in English language skills; GRE or GMAT (Graduate Record Examination or Graduate Management Admissions Test), which is a standardized test in mathematics, analytical writing, and verbal reasoning skills.

The Chevening Trust provides full guidance on the preparation material and tips required for these exams. A good way to prepare is by taking practice tests and sitting mock exams at least six months prior to submitting your application.

Once you have taken the tests, make sure to write down your scores as this will help you gauge where you stand with regard to the Chevening requirements.

You can also apply for scholarships from different institutions as this will give you more chances of winning a scholarship but remember that it takes a whole year so plan accordingly. If all else fails, work hard and use up all resources possible.

How you can win a Chevening Scholarship 2023 fully funded?

To be considered for a Chevening Scholarship, you must have completed at least one year of post-secondary education. You must also demonstrate commitment to the field of study you are applying for by earning a minimum grade point average in your program or relevant professional experience.

Additionally, you will need to demonstrate strong leadership potential as well as a willingness to commit to service with the British Council. The Chevening Programme is a scholarship program funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) that aims to give talented international students from around the world an opportunity to access top-level UK graduate programs.

Applicants who meet these criteria can apply for the scholarship which is awarded on merit. For this scholarship, there are four different categories of awards; Master’s Degree Scholarships (MDS), Undergraduate Scholarships (UGS), Postgraduate Research Awards, and Fellowships.

Applicants who wish to pursue an MDS should have completed a bachelor’s degree with good academic performance and outstanding personal achievement.

Applications for UGS should not require any prior qualification other than the ability to speak English fluently, since the MDS application process requires excellent English skills.

PGA applicants need to submit two applications: a formal expression of interest form and their PGA application.
