The Erasmus Mundus Scholarships are a prestigious scholarship program, open to students from all over the world.  The scholarship aims to enable access to high-quality graduate programs for students who would not otherwise be able to attend.

The scholarships provide funding for two years of study at one of the participating universities in Europe or China, as well as a living stipend and health insurance.

There is also a possibility to continue with another two years of studies with an Erasmus Mundus master’s degree to gain dual degrees from both partner institutions.

These international master’s courses can only be offered by universities that have been accredited by the European University Association (EUA) and that have a bilateral agreement between EUA members.

In addition, recipients are eligible for a monthly stipend of €1,500 as well as a travel allowance of €3,000 over the year.  After completing their graduate degree, they may be eligible for further scholarships from the Ulysses Foundation.  The deadline to apply is November 30th, 2022 so apply now!

Financial Aid

These scholarships can be used towards tuition fees, accommodation, transportation, food, books, supplies, and any other educational expenses to pursue a Master’s degree at an accredited university in Europe.

Scholarship recipients may stay abroad for up to three years. For the first year, they will receive 30% of their tuition fee as well as an €800 monthly stipend.

For the second and tyeyyearsearsyears20% of their tuition fee as well as a €600 monthly stipend. However, if they choose not to study during the last academic year then they will only get 10% of their tuition fee plus a €400 monthly stipend.

At least 6 months before graduation, they must present a plan outlining how they would like to utilize the rest of the funding (up until September 2021).  If this plan changes then adjustments must be made with ICI Africa before September 2021 to not forfeit these funds.

Application Process

The Erasmus Mundus scholarship is an international scholarship program for students who are not from the European Union. The scholarship covers tuition fees and living expenses up to the value of 1,000 Euros per month (approximately US$1,200).

The application process consists of two steps: first submitting a standard Erasmus application on the website of their home institution, then applying directly to Erasmus University Rotterdam as a master’s degree student. The deadlines for both applications vary by country.

The deadline for the first step is in December each year, while the second step has a rolling deadline throughout the year. The online application form can be found here and all details can be found in this pdf file.

Please note that applicants need to submit supporting documents with both applications. They should also provide proof of sufficient funds to finance the stay in Rotterdam.

If they do not have any funding sources, they will need to apply for a Kiek van de Ko?k scholarship, which provides financial assistance during the study period and requires a Dutch sponsor or partner organization.
