How to Fix Apple Watch Wont Turn On

Is your Apple Watch Series 1 not turning on. Many have noticed this while others do after swimming. Below, I will be showing you how to fix your Apple Watch Series 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 even on SE that is not turning on and the watch screen is black.

Hard Reset Your Apple Watch

This is the first solution and the reason is that it’s one of the common ways to fix any Apple watch that is not turning on. To reset your device, Simultaneously press and hold the Digital Crown and the Side button for about 10-15 seconds.

Now when the Apple logo appears on your Apple Watch Series, release both buttons. Your Apple Watch will turn back on shortly after.

If your Apple Watch is fixed now, here is the reason, the software crashed, making the display appear black.

Ensure Power Reserve Isn’t Turned On

Most people put their Apple Watch in Power Reserve mode especially when it’s their first time using the device. You should know Power Reserve is a feature that extends your Apple Watch’s battery life by disabling all of its other features except for the current time.

So when Power Reserve is turned on, you will only see the time just like the image below. If your Apple Watch is on power mode press and holds the Side button until you see the Apple logo appear on the screen. Now when your Apple Watch reboot, it will no longer be on Power Reserve mode.

Turn Off VoiceOver and Screen Curtain

The Screen Curtain feature turns off the screen of your Apple Watch even when your Apple Watch is turned on. When the screen Curtain is on, you will only see be able to navigate your Apple Watch using VoiceOver.

To turn off the Screen Curtain, open the Watch app on your iPhone and tap General -> Accessibility -> VoiceOver.  Now turn off the switch next to Screen Curtain. You’ll know it’s off when the switch is off when it’s positioned to the left.

The Screen Curtain only turns on when VoiceOver is turned on. So if you don’t use or need VoiceOver, it’s better turning it off as it will prevent Screen Curtain from turning on again. To turn off VoiceOver, head back to the Watch app on your iPhone and tap General -> Accessibility -> VoiceOver. Here turn off the switch next to VoiceOver at the top of the screen.

Check Your Apple Watch Charging Cable

When your Apple Watch is not turning on, try charging it with a few different magnetic charging cables and a few different chargers either via a PC USB port or a wall charger. If you noticed that the Apple Watch isn’t charging, with one specific charging cable or charger, then there’s a problem with either the cable or charger.

You can get it replaced for free if your Apple Watch is covered by AppleCare+. Better still, you can take it to a local store and have them replaced.

Fix Apple Watch Won’t Turn On After Swimming

Here you got the answer. It’s a hardware problem. Yes, your Apple Watch may be water-resistant but it’s not fully waterproof. As sad as if maybe, Apple does not cover water damage. The best way to fix it is to clean your Apple Watch and allow it to dried up.

Gives it some times, a few hours, or even up to a day will be okay. Then try turning it on again and don’t forget to charge it as well. If it still refused to turn on, then it’s time to set an appointment at your Apple local store and have them check it up for you.
